Gratitude on Monday

On Mondays, I catch you up on the beautiful gifts — both large and small, hard and comfortable — that God has been giving me.  Start your own One Thousand Gifts adventure by clicking on the banner below.

... figuring out that I don't have to have it all figured out
... walking the chihuahua at dusk and encountering a family of curious deer
... lurking in coffee shops to take advantage of their air-conditioning
... being gentle with my exhausted self
... remembering a childhood passion
... some pieces of my art finding new homes with online friends (thank you!)
... the Best Husband Ever
... my book being available in print and getting a copy in the mail (amazing!)
... a flooding incident in our house turning out to be not at all as terrible than it could have been
... music
... finishing up new artwork that stretched me in the making of it
... reading a hilarious book on life with a newborn by Anne Lamott (one of my favorite writers)
... . . . and crying over grief renewed
... writing this blog

  1. Beautiful! I love your list! Congrats on your book! What a blessings!

  2. love these and pray you are being gentle with yourself!

    1. Thanks, Julie! I am trying...I think I'm going to start having to institute a daily nap (and I really am resistant to naps!). Strange, I know... ;)

  3. Awesome news on your book, Congratulations! Love the cover :)

  4. I struggle with the first one a bit. But it seems as though you got that right :) Congrats on your book!

What camera do you use? For shots of the moon I always use auto then edit I afterwords. For me though the sky must be clear enough. As far as those firework photo's go, I used auto on all of them except for the last one. I've learned that auto works better for fireworks that are much further away (the big pretty ones that blow up in the sky). For the closer ones I use the firework setting. I use a Canon Powershop sx150is and photoscape to edit.

    1. Thanks for the tips, Nicole! I use a Panasonic Lumix, and I think the issue with the moon shots is that I don't have a good zoom. The moon looks TINY in all my shots. Ah day I will buy an amazing, amazing zoom lens, but until then I shall covet others' moon shots. :)

  5. Ann Voskamp is amazing! I have been reading her blog for a looong time, before she became so well known. That's wonderful that your book is in print now! :)
